Distracting attackers from actual assets and wasting their resources is one of the major advantages of honeypots. To achieve this effectively, the system decoys must be convincing to attackers and provide sufficient interaction opportunities to keep them engaged.
Such honeypots are typically referred to as high-interaction honeypots, and creating them for a specific ecosystem is a major challenge. Traditional approaches require predicting attacker behavior and implementing suitable reactions, or even building an actual system containing realistic dummy data. This is a complex and resource-intensive process.
But, as also proven by the “dAIsy” Honeypot chatbot, we at CROWSI believe that this is one of the ideal use cases for generative AI.
That’s why we are happy to introduce to you today our new open-source project, GenAIDecoy, an AI-powered honeypot framework tailor-made for use on the CROWSI platform!
What is GenAIDecoy?
GenAIDecoy is an AI-driven honeypot framework designed specifically for the CROWSI platform. It generates dynamic, realistic responses to attacker queries while masking its AI nature, creating a highly convincing decoy environment.
It can be customized to your specific usage scenario via a simple config.yaml
file.

Join the Project!
GenAIDecoy is in its early stages, and we would appreciate your honest feedback and contributions. We are eager to see how the community will leverage this technology to build better, smarter decoys.
Let’s work together to create a world where every attack ends in a decoy trap!
Check out the project today and let us know what you think!
